introduction
It is the most populated city in southern Italy, capital of the Campania region, and the Metropolitan City of Naples. Within the terms of the municipality of Naples live just under one million inhabitants, which, together with those of the metropolitan city, amount to more than three million. It is located halfway between Mount Vesuvius and another volcanic area, the Flégreos Fields. It gives name to the gulf on whose banks it sits.
It has an enormous historical, artistic, cultural and gastronomic wealth, which led Unesco to declare its historical center, the largest in Europe, a World Heritage Site.

Naples’ opera house’s programme is diverse, with ballet shows taking place between April and June, too. Even if opera and ballet are not your thing, the house is lovely to behold.
